In the morning of November 11, Russian troops shelled Kurakhove in Donetsk region. As a result, the Ternivka dam of the Kurakhove reservoir was destroyed.
This was reported by RBC-Ukraine with reference to Novosti Donbassa and Suspilne Donbass.
According to Novyny Donbas sources, the water in the Vovcha River has risen by 1 meter. In the villages along the river, the water is rising.
“We know that water is flowing through the villages located near the Ternivka dam. We can't confirm the nature of the damage or its severity. We cannot inspect the dam because of the constant shelling as of now,” Roman Padun, head of the Kurakhivka MVA, told Suspilne.
According to him, there is evidence that water is approaching the settlements of the Velykonovosilkivska community.
“We have information from other settlements of the Velykonovosilkivska community that water is coming there because if the floodgates are opened. We state that the dam is probably damaged,” Padun added.-
It is noted that the inspection of the “arrival” site is complicated due to active fighting in the Pokrovske and Kurakhove directions.
Depending on the degree of damage to the dam, there is a risk of partial flooding of settlements located downstream of the Vovcha River: the villages of Stari Terny, Ulakly, Konstantinople, Andriivka, Oleksiyivka, Bohatyr, Zelenyi Kut, Novoukrainka and a number of settlements in Dnipropetrovs'k region.
