Classified military documents detailing U.S. and NATO plans to build up the Ukrainian army ahead of a planned counterattack have appeared on social networks.

This was reported by the New York Times.

The released documents are dated March 1. They do not contain specific combat plans or the date and place of a future counteroffensive, but they do contain information on how many brigades Ukraine plans to prepare for the offensive and how much equipment it will receive. They also contain information on how much HIMARS ammunition is spent daily. The Pentagon is investigating who might have been behind the leaked documents.

"We are aware of the reported social media postings, and the department is looking into the matter," said Sabrina Singh, deputy Pentagon spokesperson.

Military analysts said the published documents appear to have changed in some parts. They overstated U.S. estimates of Ukrainian military deaths and understated the number of Russian troops killed. This may indicate an attempt at disinformation on the part of Moscow.
