The Pentagon will send Ukraine at least $275 million worth of weapons. This should happen before President-elect Donald Trump takes office.
This is reported by RBC-Ukraine with reference to the AR.
According to the publication, “the administration of current US President Joe Biden is in a hurry to do everything possible” to help Kyiv repel Russia before President-elect Donald Trump takes office.
“The latest tranche of weapons comes at a time of growing concern about an escalation in the conflict, with both sides seeking any advantage they can grab if Trump demands a quick end to the war - as he has vowed to do,” the journalists state.
The weapons in the new aid package for Ukraine include air defense equipment, including High Mobility Artillery Rocket Systems (HIMARS), as well as 155mm and 105mm artillery shells, Javelin anti-tank ammunition, and other equipment and spare parts.
Asked whether the department could deliver before January 20, when Trump takes office, Pentagon spokeswoman Sabrina Singh said officials are working to ensure that Ukraine gets what it needs.
“We are committed to using all the authority that Congress has given us. The only way we can do that is to make sure our shelves are fully stocked and staffed. So, as our shelves continue to fill up with the equipment and capabilities we need, we are taking them and sending them to Ukraine,” she said.-
