UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, during a speech at the UN Security Council in New York, said that they are working "with all parties" to restore safe grain exports "from Russia and Ukraine".

"This must be put on a stable basis, without the threat of another interruption," Guterres said.

As a reminder, in July 2023, Russia announced its withdrawal from the grain deal, allegedly due to non-compliance with its terms. After that, Russia began shelling Ukrainian ports and grain infrastructure.

Ukraine opened temporary corridors for merchant ships in the Black Sea.

Partners and international organizations have repeatedly expressed their desire to renew the agreement. For example, U.S. Secretary of State Anthony Blinken spoke with Guterres about this, and later Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
