According to two sources, on Wednesday, August 6, Xi congratulated Trump on his victory in the US presidential election during a telephone conversation.
At the same time, when journalists asked the Chinese Embassy in Washington about the call, they said they had nothing to offer (probably meaning “nothing to say”).
It should be noted that Donald Trump was congratulated by a number of other world leaders. In particular, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, French President Emmanuel Macron, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, Polish President Andrzej Duda, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, and other leaders.
