Zelensky met with new British Defense Secretary
On Thursday, September 28, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky met with the newly appointed British Secretary for Defense Grant Shapps, who is on a visit to Kyiv.
This is reported with reference to the President's Telegram and the press service of the Presidential Office.
"A meaningful meeting with Secretary of State for Defense Grant Shapps. Thank you for your strong financial, defense, and humanitarian support for Ukraine!" Zelensky wrote.
The president noted that cooperation between Ukraine and the UK in the military sphere significantly expands the capabilities of our soldiers on the battlefield, in particular thanks to long-range weapons.
Zelensky and Shapps also discussed the issue of strengthening Ukraine's air defense, which is especially important ahead of the winter period.
It is also noted the adoption by the G7 at the NATO Summit in Vilnius of a joint declaration of support for Ukraine and the start of negotiations with the UK on a bilateral agreement on security guarantees for Ukraine.
