After Erdogan's election victory, Scholz invited him to Germany

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz had a telephone conversation with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan after he won the second round of elections and invited him to make his first visit to Berlin after his re-election.

This is stated in the press service of the German Chancellor.

During a telephone conversation on Monday, Scholz congratulated Erdogan on his election victory and "emphasized the close ties between Germany and Turkey, not least as common allies in NATO".

It is noted that the parties agreed to cooperate on improving the situation in the Eastern Mediterranean, "decisions currently pending in NATO" and Turkey's relations with the European Union.

"To this end, the chancellor invited the re-elected president to Berlin for his inaugural visit," Scholz's office added.
