AFU respond to the statement of the Russia of a counteroffensive

Jun 5, 2023

The Armed Forces of Ukraine have stated that Russians have intensified the spread of fakes about the alleged "offensive" of the Defense Forces. This was reported by the Strategic Communications Department of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on Telegram on June 5.

In fact, this statement refutes the announcement made today by Russian Defense Ministry spokesman General Konashenkov. The latter, we recall, announced a counteroffensive by the Ukrainian Armed Forces in five frontline areas at once and immediately began to lie about our heavy losses.

"Russian Telegram channels and social networks are planning to intensify the spread of false information about the combat actions of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. And about their own formations," the Armed Forces StratCom said in a statement.

It is noted that in order to demoralize and misinform Ukrainians, the enemy will spread fakes about the counteroffensive, its directions, and the losses of Ukrainian soldiers.

"Even if there is no counteroffensive. For this purpose, they have prepared old videos and photos showing damaged equipment, dead, and prisoners. As well as other fake materials," the statement said.

It should be noted that the Russian announcement of a counteroffensive may seem true, because, first, everyone expects a counteroffensive and it can begin at any time without an announcement. Secondly, the Ukrainian Armed Forces have had some successes near Bakhmut and on the Kupiansk (Svatove) direction in recent days, as officially stated at various levels. Including the commander of the Land Forces, Oleksandr Syrskyi, and Deputy Defense Minister Hanna Malyar.
