For the first time, US President Joe Biden has responded to the Russian bombing of the Kakhovka hydroelectric power plant by promising to support Ukraine. He announced this during a conversation with journalists on June 6, Voice of America reports.
He was asked what he could say to Russia about the Kakhovka hydroelectric power plant explosion.
"We will not leave. We will help Ukraine," Biden replied.
Earlier, White House spokesman John Kirby said that Washington had seen reports that Russia was "responsible" for the undermining of the Kakhovka hydroelectric dam. He noted that the Russians illegally occupied the station in 2022 and continue to control it.
"We are doing everything we can to evaluate these reports," Kirby said.-
NBC, citing sources, reported that the White House has intelligence confirming Russia's responsibility for the destruction of the Kakhovka hydroelectric dam.
