The resolution was adopted by unanimous vote.

"The House of Commons strongly condemns the Russian authorities for war crimes and genocide, which consists in the forced deportation of Ukrainian children to the territory of the Russian Federation using an outrageous process known as 'filtration,'" the document says.

The resolution also demands that Russia immediately stop this practice and "return the children to Ukraine safely."

According to Stéphane Bergeron Monterville, a deputy from the Quebec Bloc, who submitted the resolution for a vote, at least 19,000 Ukrainian children were illegally taken by the Russian invaders.

"The main genocidal intention of these despicable acts is obvious: to Russify these children and destroy all their cultural characteristics," he emphasized.
