North Korea has transferred several million pieces of artillery ammunition to Russia. In total, over six thousand containers with shells were sent to Russia.
This was stated by South Korean Defense Minister Shin Won-sik, Sky News reports.
He said that the 6,700 containers that North Korea sent to Russia could contain more than 3 million 152-millimeter shells and 500,000 122-millimeter shells.
"It could possibly be a mix of the two, and you can say that at least several million shells have been sent," the minister said.
According to him, hundreds of North Korean munitions factories are operating at about 30% of their capacity due to a lack of raw materials and electricity.
But, as the head of the Defense Ministry added, the factories that produce shells for Russia are operating at full capacity.
As a reminder, North Korea is Russia's ally in the war against Ukraine.
Recently, the US State Department announced that since September 2023, North Korea has shipped more than ten thousand containers containing ammunition or ammunition-related materials to Russia.
Also, earlier this year, it became known that Russia had received ballistic missiles from the DPRK. The occupiers are already using them to strike at the territory of Ukraine.
