In particular, Duda confirmed that Poland would be ready for such a transfer if NATO countries decided to relocate fighters from the West to Polish bases.

“We discussed the issue of our MiG-29s, which we have in service... We have one squadron of MiGs left, and there is a question of a decision in this regard. We are currently using these aircraft. If we transfer them to Ukraine, there is one fundamental condition - our sky must be protected,” he said.

Duda noted that these Soviet planes are currently used by the Polish army to ensure airspace security.

He also said that Poland provides assistance to Ukraine on a daily basis, as his country is a transit country and “if it were not for our infrastructure, Ukraine would be in an extremely difficult situation.”
