This decision is part of the regular review of sanctions that takes place every six months. During this procedure, the EU removes several names from the list, while continuing to expand it by adding new individuals and organizations.

Earlier, Hungary insisted on removing more individuals from the sanctions list, but other EU member states suggested extending the sanctions review period from six to twelve months.

The final decision on this issue is yet to be approved by the EU leadership.
