Jul 26, 2023

On Wednesday, European Union ambassadors agreed to impose new sanctions against Belarus for its involvement in the Russian war of aggression.

This was reported by the Spanish Presidency of the EU Council.

According to a post on Twitter, EU ambassadors agreed to impose restrictive measures in view of the situation in Belarus and Minsk's involvement in Russian aggression against Ukraine.

"The measures include the inclusion in the lists of individuals and legal entities," the statement reads.

According to Radio Liberty's Europe editor, Rikard Dzoswiak, the sanctions generally concern aviation and dual-use goods.

According to the journalist, it is important that "there is no retreat" from lifting sanctions against Belarusian potash producers.

"But expect this issue to arise again in the fall," Dzouzwiak summarized.
