Jun 24, 2024

Vice-President of the European Commission Věra Jourová warns of the risks of Russian interference in the German Bundestag elections to be held next year.

According to Yevropeiska Pravda, Jourova said this in an interview with the German newspaper Süddeutsche Zeitung.

She emphasized that Europe is currently living "in a new era of hostile influence."

"I am afraid that Voice of Europe is a blueprint for further operations - including on the eve of next year's general elections. This fake media outlet is probably just the tip of the iceberg," said the EC vice president, referring to the platform involved in the European Parliament election influence campaign that spread Russian propaganda in the EU.

She added that this could be copied as a method.

Yurova noted that when it comes to Russian disinformation, Germany, France and Poland are under extreme pressure.

Kremlin ruler Vladimir Putin is trying to invest in these Central European countries, "because he hopes to make a big profit from changing public opinion," she said.
