The German Ministry of Defense wants to present nine contracts for the accelerated purchase of artillery and tank ammunition in the coming months.
This is reported by RBC-Ukraine with reference to Spiegel.
"The German Armed Forces have only about 20,000 high-explosive artillery shells left. Countries such as Germany rushed to send 155-meter artillery shells to Ukraine, which led to the depletion of stocks for their own defense," the article says.
According to Spiegel, by 2031, the German Armed Forces need to accumulate about 230,000 shells to meet NATO goals and have enough artillery to withstand 30 days of intense fighting.
The publication reports that the German Ministry of Defense intends to present nine contracts for the accelerated purchase of artillery and tank ammunition to the budget committee in the coming months.
