The city of Helsinki will donate surplus property worth 77 thousand euros to Ukraine. The decision to donate was made by the city government on November 11, 2024.
This was reported by RBC-Ukraine with reference to the press service of the Helsinki administration.
Since the beginning of the war, Helsinki has been actively supporting Ukrainian cities affected by the hostilities. To help mitigate the damage, in the fall months, city departments allocated materials and equipment that will now be transferred to Ukraine. The donated property includes old cars and other equipment that can serve in the face of ongoing need.
“Helping Ukraine is an issue that affects all segments of society. We are sending this aid as a sign of our support and desire to cooperate with the Ukrainian people,” commented Helsinki Mayor Juhaan Vartiainen.
Since the beginning of the war, Helsinki has been actively assisting both newly arrived Ukrainians and those who stayed at home.
The humanitarian aid is coordinated by the Rescue Department of the Finnish Ministry of the Interior within the framework of the European Union Civil Protection Mechanism. The Ministry is responsible for the delivery of donations, as in previous times, ensuring that they are sent and transferred for the needs of Ukraine.
