An underground missile factory built by Iran was destroyed in Syria earlier this week. This happened during a ground operation by the IDF.
This is reported by RBC-Ukraine with reference to Axios.
According to three sources familiar with the situation, an elite unit of the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) conducted a rather unusual raid in Syria, destroying an underground factory for the production of precision missiles. According to Israel and the United States, the facility was built by Iran.
Axios notes that Israeli air strikes on Syria have intensified since Hamas attacked Israel on October 7. However, Sunday's raid was the first ground operation the IDF has conducted in recent years against Iranian targets in Syria.
The destruction of the plant appears to have dealt a significant blow to Iran and Hezbollah's efforts to produce precision-guided medium-range missiles on Syrian territory.
According to the sources, the Israeli government “remained unusually silent” on the matter and did not take responsibility in order not to provoke retaliatory actions by Syria, Iran or Hezbollah.
