The Israeli Defense Forces managed to break through to the center of Khan Younis, a large city in the southern Gaza Strip.
This was stated in a statement by the IDF, RBC-Ukraine reports citing The Times of Israel.
According to the Israeli Defense Forces, the 98th Israeli Division "launched a combined attack near the city of Khan Younis against the centers of concentration of the Hamas terrorist organization."
The IDF clarifies that within a few hours, the troops broke through the defense of the Hamas brigade in Khan Younis, surrounded the city, and began to maneuver deeper into it.
The troops who led the offensive captured Hamas strongholds and found weapons and intelligence materials. They also killed many militants and discovered dozens of destroyed tunnels.
At the same time, according to the Defense Ministry, the forces of the Commando Brigade, together with the Givati Brigade, have reached the center of Khan Younis and are conducting "targeted raids in the heart of the city," killing Hamas militants and destroying the terrorist group's infrastructure.
During one of the operations, according to the IDF, a weapons cache in a mosque was destroyed.
