The Russian accused in the case of burning the Quran said that he was beaten by the 15-year-old son of Ramzan Kadyrov in the Grozny detention center.
Nikita Zhuravel, who is being held in the Grozny pre-trial detention center, said that he was beaten by Adam Kadyrov during a visit. He filed a complaint with the Russian Ombudsman Tatyana Moskalkova, Russian media reported.
Zhuravel said that he had a personal meeting with the head of Chechnya, and Adam Kadyrov beat him as soon as he left.
Nikita Zhuravel was detained in the spring in Volgograd after a rally with the burning of the Koran near a mosque. According to the Russian security forces, the man confessed that he did it for money "on the instructions of the Ukrainian special services." He was later taken to Chechnya.
