Since 2023, Latvia has pledged to provide military assistance to Ukraine in the amount of 0.25% of GDP annually until 2026. To date, Latvia has already provided Ukraine with helicopters, self-propelled howitzers, and other types of weapons.

The contract with the UK, signed in 2014, provided for the supply of 123 armored vehicles, 116 of which were modernized. The first deliveries took place in 2015, and an additional contract was signed in 2019.

Latvian Defense Minister Andris Sprūds said that the procurement of new infantry fighting vehicles to replace CVR(T) is in its final stages. These vehicles are needed to rearm the Latvian army and participate in tactical operations.

CVR(T) is a family of British tracked armored vehicles developed in the mid-20th century. They are known for their high maneuverability and versatility. These vehicles can perform a wide range of tasks, including reconnaissance, patrolling, fire support and casualty evacuation.
