Macron names two NATO countries that oppose Ukraine's accession

Jul 10, 2024

The United States and Germany oppose Ukraine's accession to NATO.

This was stated by French President Emmanuel Macron, RBC-Ukraine reports citing DPA.

According to him, the governments of the United States and Germany are “strongly opposed” to Ukraine's invitation to NATO.

"Ultimately, the invitation of Ukraine to NATO will be a decision of the allies," Macron said.

The French president also recalled that the Ukrainian authorities were extremely dissatisfied with the lack of an invitation at the previous NATO summit held in Vilnius.

"The Ukrainians were very annoyed when they came to the conclusion that the door was open, but not to that extent. And I think the scenario for the Washington summit is the same," Macron added.
