Poland initiated NATO's Baltic Sea mining exercise.
This was reported by RBC-Ukraine with reference to the Deputy Minister of National Defense of Poland, Paweł Zalewski, on Twitter.
It is noted that the last NATO exercises in the Baltic Sea were held in 2023. At that time, the purpose of the exercise was to practice actions in the event of possible aggression from Russia.
"We are strengthening the defense of NATO countries in the Baltic Sea. On behalf of the Ministry of National Defense, on the occasion of the NATO summit that begins tomorrow in Washington, I signed a letter of intent on joint procurement of sea mines and naval exercises to lay them," Zalewski wrote.
