It is important for Georgia to synchronize its geopolitical course with the EU's foreign policy priorities and consistent support for sanctions policy against Russia.
This was stated by Lithuanian President Gitanas Nausėda, RBC-Ukraine reports citing Alkas.
He met with Georgian President Salome Zurabishvili, who arrived in Lithuania. The leaders discussed the prospects of European integration, the implementation of reforms and recommendations of the European Commission, and the security situation in the region.
The Lithuanian President said that in order for Georgia to receive the status of an EU candidate country, it must demonstrate progress in implementing reforms and EU recommendations, especially in such issues as political depolarization of society, judicial reform, de-oligarchization, and media freedom.
According to the Lithuanian President, it is also important to synchronize Georgia's geopolitical course with the EU's foreign policy priorities and consistent support for the EU's sanctions policy against the aggressor Russia.
