The Romanian Ministry of Defense has stated that the Russian attack on the Ukrainian ports of Reni and Izmail on the Danube did not pose a threat to the country.

According to the ministry, the structures of the Ministry of Defense that monitor the airspace did not detect any military threat to the national territory or territorial waters of Romania.

"The Ministry of Defense strongly condemns the repeated attacks of the Russian armed forces on civilian settlements and critical infrastructure of Ukraine. The war of aggression unleashed by Russian troops against Ukraine is a blatant violation of international law," the statement said.

The ministry also pointed out that it has stepped up vigilance measures in accordance with national and allied plans, and is constantly monitoring national land, sea, and airspace in cooperation with NATO structures, acting to strengthen defense along the entire eastern flank and deter any aggression against allied territory.
