German Chancellor Olaf Scholz has expressed confidence that the European Union will be able to quickly agree on the next president of the European Commission.
Reuters quoted the German chancellor as saying this.
According to Scholz, it is necessary to decide on the next president of the European Commission as soon as possible, as Europe is currently going through difficult times.
"Given that the political platform that has so far supported the president (von der Leyen) in the parliament has a majority again, I believe that a reasonable solution can be found quickly," Scholz told reporters upon arrival at a meeting of EU leaders in Brussels.
He also added that "it is important to know what the future holds for Europe."
