German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said that he is following with concern the events in France, which has been gripped by mass unrest after a police officer killed a 17-year-old teenager.
The German Chancellor said this in an interview with the ARD TV channel, as cited by DW.
According to Scholz, Germany sees France as a "friendly neighboring country."
He is convinced that France is not in danger of instability, and that its President Emmanuel Macron will find ways to resolve the situation quickly.
Scholz also does not believe that similar unrest could break out in Germany. "There are no signs of that," he emphasized, adding that Berlin has done a lot to mitigate high energy prices and ensure the reliability of energy supply, referring to possible public dissatisfaction with this area.
