Former Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi died in Milan's San Raffaele Hospital at the age of 86.
This was reported by Corriere della Sera.
The news of the former prime minister's death came after Berlusconi's brother Paolo arrived at the hospital in the morning with the former prime minister's children.
As a reminder, Berlusconi was hospitalized on Friday. Doctors claimed that this was not due to a critical situation.
It was noted that Berlusconi was in a regular ward. He arrived at the hospital himself.
He was hospitalized at the San Raffaele Hospital in Milan, from where he was discharged on May 19 after 45 days in the hospital.
Prior to that, the 86-year-old politician was rushed to the hospital on April 5 and remained in intensive care for more than 10 days. After his hospitalization, doctors reported that Berlusconi was suffering from chronic myelomonocytic leukemia, a blood cancer.
Silvio Berlusconi headed three Italian governments from 1994 to 2011. The politician is known for his friendship with Russian President Vladimir Putin and has made controversial statements about Ukraine.
In particular, in October 2022, he said that Ukraine could negotiate with Russia if it stopped receiving weapons and was offered only reconstruction assistance.
Prior to that, Berlusconi said that "Putin was pushed to the war against Ukraine by the Russian people, the party, his ministers," and the purpose of the invasion was to allegedly form a government of "decent people" in Kyiv.
