South Korea said that the missile launch poses a threat to “peace and security on the Korean Peninsula and the international community” and announced new measures “limiting North Korea's ballistic missile development.”

In total, the export controls cover 15 components “necessary for the development and production of solid-fuel missiles” that North Korea finds difficult to produce domestically.

Among them:

  • solid fuel,
  • fuselages
  • combustion chambers and drives,
  • coal cylinders,
  • natural rubber and components, etc.
“This action is also aimed at raising the international community's awareness of the need to prevent North Korea from acquiring critical items for the development of solid fuel missiles, thereby further limiting its ballistic missile program,” the South Korean Foreign Ministry said.
