The AFU have 28 models of drones of various types made in Ukraine

The Ministry of Defense has purchased thousands of Ukrainian drones. Since February 22, 2022, we have already purchased 28 models of various drones manufactured by us.

The ministry explained that the development of Ukrainian weapons and military equipment, including drones, is a priority for them. We are talking about reconnaissance, strike, kamikaze, and barrage drones.

What is known about 28 models of Ukrainian-made drones

The ministry recalled that in the fall of 2022, procedures for inventors and manufacturers were significantly simplified. Thus, now the commissioning of new weapons and equipment takes up to 3 to 5 weeks instead of 2 years, as it used to be.

Since February 22, 2022, the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine has adopted 28 models of UAVs of various types of Ukrainian production,

- the ministry said.

They explained that these are:

• 9 models of kamikaze drones, of which 3 are airplane-type;

• 6 models of FPV drones.

In total, the Armed Forces received thousands of units of various drones and unmanned aerial vehicles. The Ministry explained that they have signed contracts with Ukrainian companies for the serial production of 10 models of drones of various types. However, for security reasons, the ministry does not disclose the names and volumes.

How the Ministry of Defense purchases drones

The Ministry cannot sign contracts for serial models that do not yet exist.

Purchases can be made solely on the basis of the need from the General Staff of the Armed Forces, which is formed only for actually existing means,

- the Ministry explained.

In addition, the testing of a single kamikaze drone developed by one of the enterprises of Ukrainian Defense Industry JSC has been completed.

The procedure for approval for operation is underway.
