The leader of the Republicans in the Senate announced his resignation

Mitch McConnell, known for his support for Ukraine, announced that he will end his career as the leader of the Republican Party in the upper house of the US Congress in November.

He stated this on Wednesday, according to Ukrinform's correspondent.

“One of life's most underrated talents is knowing when it's time to move on to the next chapter of your life. So I stand before you today to say that this term as the leader of the Republicans in the Senate will be my last," McConnell said.

He assured that he will actively work in his position until the elections of the president and members of Congress, which are to be held in November.

At the same time, according to McConnell, he plans to complete his term as a senator until January 2027.
