On Tuesday, Wolfgang Sobotka, the chairman of the Austrian National Council, the lower house of parliament, visited Ukraine at the head of a small delegation of Austrian MPs and held talks with Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal and President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
This was reported by Yevropeiska Pravda.
The Austrian delegation included representatives of all parliamentary parties, except for the far-right Austrian Freedom Party, which opposes assistance to Ukraine and its membership in the European Union.
Wolfgang Sobotka delivered a speech in the Verkhovna Rada, during which he assured of Austria's solidarity with and support for Ukraine.
"Austria has already supported the Ukrainian government and the Ukrainian population, which has been particularly hard hit by this war, with financial and humanitarian aid worth more than 152 million euros. We will continue to provide our humanitarian aid as long as it is needed," he said.
In Kyiv, the Speaker of the Austrian National Council also met with Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal, who invited Austrian businesses to join the demining of Ukraine, and President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, where the parties discussed the "peace formula" and European integration.
