The US plan to deliver Abrams tanks to Ukraine in September
American Abrams tanks are likely to arrive in Ukraine in September, Politico reports citing its sources.
This is reported by Ukrinform concerning Politico.
In August, it is planned to send several "Abrams" to Germany, where they will undergo final modernization. After that, the first batch will be sent to Ukraine.
It is noted that older models - M1A1 - will be sent to Ukraine. But even the most sensitive technologies are removed from them, in particular, secret armor made of depleted uranium.
The first batch will consist of six to eight tanks. In total, the US plans to send 31 vehicles (one Ukrainian battalion).
Before the Ukrainian military begins operating the tanks, they are expected to complete a 10-week training course at the Grafenwehr Army Base in Germany in August.
The U.S. is also working with European allies to establish repair facilities to restore equipment after combat.
