There is no point in the Ukrainian Armed Forces entering Bakhmut now

May 29, 2023

For a long time, the Wagner PMC, led by Yevhen Prigozhin, took Bakhmut almost every week, and now they have started to withdraw from it. However, the topic of Wagner's men and their "achievements" is just PR for Prigozhin.

In fact, this unit is not a large-scale unit, it is just an organized criminal group that for some reason received army weapons. Roman Svitan, a military expert, pilot-instructor, and colonel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, told Channel 24 about this.

According to Svitan, about a thousand Wagnerites remained in the Bakhmut direction in early May, and there were 10 assault groups of about 100 people each. After May 9, Prigozhin began to withdraw the remnants of his group into small tactical groups.

This unit was less than a brigade in total. In contrast, the Ukrainian side has dozens of brigades there, and the Russian side has hundreds.

They covered about 30 kilometers in a year. In a year, they could go to the Canadian border and come back. They trampled around Bakhmut until it was finally destroyed by Russian aviation, and that's the only reason why the Ukrainian army left it, now only the "Airplane" is holding it,

- Svitan commented.

Wagner's men are withdrawn

According to the military analyst, Prigozhin is now trying to disperse his mercenaries on the Azov coast. Their further return to the hot war zone will depend on the operational situation at the front. Right now, there is no need for these units.

These are assault groups that, for example, can storm a toilet. The maximum they have stormed in this life is Bakhmut, a district center with a population of 70 thousand people, 42 square kilometers. In 2 days, 42 kilometers of the Belgorod region were "liberated" by the Russian Volunteer Corps,
