"What I see is a slowdown in the Russian advance, stabilization of this particular section of the front. Now, I think we will see gradual successes - and we will see pros and cons - in the future," he said.

Austin added that Ukraine's troops have done a lot to strengthen their defensive positions and are effectively using the weapons and ammunition they are provided with.

"Again, a couple of weeks ago there were fears that we would see a significant breakthrough by the Russians. I do not think we will see this in the future," he emphasized.

Earlier, the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, General Charles Brown, said that Ukrainian troops managed to stabilize the situation in the Kharkiv region.

Also, according to the head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, Oleh Syniehubov, the number of attacks from Russian S-300 missile systems in Kharkiv has decreased.
