U.S. to announce military aid package for Ukraine for over $2 billion
The Pentagon will announce a long-term arms package for Ukraine worth more than $2 billion. It will include missiles for air defense.
This was reported by Bloomberg.
The U.S. Department of Defense is expected to announce the package on Friday, administration officials said.
As noted, the upcoming announcement will be made as military analysts talk about the beginning of the expected counteroffensive of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
The funds allocated under the Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative (USAI) will be used to purchase Hawk missile launchers and missiles, as well as two types of advanced Patriot air defense missiles.
According to the publication, one of them is the Patriot Advanced Capability Missile-3, or Pac-3, manufactured by Lockheed Martin Corp.
The other is the Guidance Enhanced Missile, or GEM-T, made by Raytheon Technologies Corp. It provides an improved ability to engage enemy ballistic missiles, cruise missiles or aircraft in addition to the PAC-3 missile.
