Ukraine is not negotiating with Russia - Yermak

Nov 5, 2024

Ukraine does not conduct direct negotiations with Russia, but certain agreements are possible at the level of individual agreements between different countries.

This was stated by the head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, Andriy Yermak, RBC-Ukraine reports, citing a national telethon.

“These negotiations, as they are written about, that these are allegedly Ukraine-Russia negotiations, are definitely not true. What is happening is that we have held thematic conferences. The first conference was on energy security, it was online, but Qatar was a kind of co-organizer. And when this conference took place, we set out the principles for this item of the Peace Formula. There was a very large number of countries from different continents. All these thematic conferences are without Russia,” Yermak emphasized.

According to him, the principles were then fixed: if today Qatar, for example, or another country, is ready to implement these agreements through agreements with Ukraine separately, and, for example, separately with Russia, they are welcome to do so. The situation is the same with food security. There was already a grain corridor with Turkey, which existed for a year. There were two agreements: one was Turkey-United Nations-Ukraine, the other was Turkey-United Nations-Russia.

“If someone is ready to implement the achievements of this conference within this framework, they are welcome to do so. As far as I know today, no one has any agreements yet. If there are such agreements, Ukraine is ready to consider them, because this is absolutely in line with the principles laid down in the Ukrainian Peace Formula. All these conversations seem to me to be a reaction after those thematic conferences, but I can say for sure that Ukraine is not conducting any negotiations with Russia,” he added.
