A Hungarian court has imprisoned for five years the Ukrainian captain of a river cruise ship that collided with a small tourist boat on the Danube River in Budapest, killing 28 people.
This was reported by the BBC.
During a downpour in May 2019, the Rusalka, carrying South Korean tourists, sank on the Danube within seconds of the accident.
The disaster was the worst on the Danube in 30 years.
The Ukrainian captain of the Viking Sigyn cruise ship, Yuriy Chaplinsky, denied his guilt but was found guilty of gross negligence. Chaplinsky is expected to appeal.
