US urges Venezuela and Guyana to find peaceful solution to conflict

Dec 7, 2023

The United States expects Venezuela and Guyana to find a peaceful way to resolve their conflict.

This was reported by RBC-Ukraine with reference to a briefing by John Kirby, coordinator of the US National Security Council at the White House.

According to him, the United States supports a peaceful settlement of the border dispute between Venezuela and Guyana. At the same time, Washington "is absolutely confident in its continued support for Guyana's sovereignty."

Kirby emphasized that the decision that determined the land border between the two countries should be respected until the parties themselves reach a new agreement.

"We will therefore urge Venezuela and Guyana to continue to seek a peaceful resolution of the dispute, including through the International Court of Justice," he added.
