USA imposed sanctions against Belarus for deporting Ukrainian children
The United States of America imposed sanctions on Belarus on December 5. The reason for this was her assistance to Russia in the war and participation in the deportation of Ukrainian children.
RBC-Ukraine reports this regarding the US Treasury Department.
Today, the US Treasury Department's Office of Foreign Assets Control has sanctioned 11 entities and eight individuals.
This increases the pressure on the authoritarian regime of Oleksandr Lukashenko for the brutal suppression of democratic civil society in Belarus, the corrupt financial enrichment of the Lukashenko family, and collaboration in Russia's unjustified war against Ukraine.
Deputy Secretary of the Treasury for Counterterrorism and Financial Intelligence Brian Nelson said today's actions confirm the efforts of the United States to hold Lukashenka, his family, and his regime accountable for their anti-democratic actions and human rights violations both in Belarus and around the world.
