Jun 20, 2024

The United States calls on and encourages as many countries and international organizations as possible to sign the Peace Summit communiqué.

This was announced by Michael Carpenter, Senior Director for European Affairs at the US National Security Council, RBC-Ukraine reports citing Ukrinform.

He noted that the document will be open for signing after the summit.

"At the end of the summit, President (of Switzerland - ed.) Viola Amherd clearly emphasized that the document will be open for signing both among participants who did not join after the summit but may later want to do so, and for other countries and organizations that may join," the White House spokesman said.

He also added that the United States, for its part, has called on a wide range of countries to join the Global Peace Summit in Switzerland from the very beginning. Carpenter noted that it was important to demonstrate collective support for the approaches discussed at the meeting, which are consistent with the UN's fundamental principles of sovereignty and territorial integrity. According to him, the United States will encourage as many countries as possible to sign.

"And, of course, we will encourage and support all countries to sign this document," the US administration representative summarized.
