The head of the Presidential Office, Andriy Yermak, had a phone conversation with Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto. This happened before the summit where EU leaders will discuss accession talks with Ukraine.
This was reported by RBC-Ukraine regarding the press service of the Presidential Office.
According to Yermak, he was instructed to hold a telephone conversation with Siyarto by the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
During the discussions, one of the topics was Ukraine's progress towards membership in the European Union.
"In the coming days, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine plans to adopt many important European integration bills. We will fully fulfill our obligations," Yermak emphasized.
In this context, the head of the Presidential Administration noted that Ukraine expects a positive decision on the start of negotiations on joining the EU. The issue is to be considered at the summit of the bloc's leaders on December 14-15.
The parties also discussed the possibility of a meeting between President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban. They agreed to work on the date of the meeting.
It is worth noting that yesterday Szijjártó said that the Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration of Ukraine, Olha Stefanyshyna, and Yermák wanted to hold talks with him. But the talks, according to the Hungarian Foreign Minister, were allegedly canceled by the Ukrainian side.
