Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has spoken to NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg about the need to receive more heavy weapons from the Alliance states to repel Russian attacks and a counter-offensive of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

This was reported by the press service of the Office of the President of Ukraine, writes European Pravda.

"The President of Ukraine separately informed Jens Stoltenberg about the situation on the battlefield and the need for Ukraine to receive more heavy weapons from NATO member states more quickly to successfully repel Russian attacks and move to a further counterattack," the presidential office said.

Zelensky also noted the importance of receiving non-lethal military assistance from the Alliance in the shortest possible time as part of the comprehensive package approved at the NATO summit in Madrid.

He emphasized the importance of ensuring full financing of the aforementioned aid.

Zelensky separately discussed the status of Ukraine's requests to NATO for assistance for humanitarian demining and expressed the hope that the deliveries of the necessary equipment would be accelerated.

Zelensky invited Stoltenberg to participate in the online summit of the Crimea Platform on 23 August this year.
