Côte d'Ivoire will participate in the first Global Peace Summit on Ukraine, scheduled for June 15-16 in Switzerland.
This was reported by RBC-Ukraine with reference to the Telegram channel of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
The Head of State noted that on May 24, he had a telephone conversation with President Alassane Ouattara of Côte d'Ivoire, during which the parties touched upon the issue of the upcoming Peace Summit.
The two presidents also discussed bilateral relations and international cooperation.
Zelenskyy reminded that Ukraine had opened an embassy in the African country in the city of Abidjan in the spring and expressed hope that “this will significantly strengthen the connection” between Ukraine and Côte d'Ivoire.
“Ukrainian peacekeepers have made a significant contribution to the restoration of peace in Côte d'Ivoire. Now Ukraine needs a just peace. Therefore, I am glad that I can count on Côte d'Ivoire's participation in the Peace Summit,” he said.
Zelenskyy added that during the conversation, he congratulated Ouattara on the upcoming Africa Day.1
