The administration of U.S. President Joe Biden is holding secret discussions and debates about the possible transfer of ATACMS missiles to Ukraine.
This was reported by The New York Times.
It is reported that the missiles are in limited quantities at the Pentagon warehouses and are reserved for other purposes.
"Two American officials and one European official described a quiet debate within the Biden administration over whether to send even a few of the surface-to-surface guided missiles, which are being reserved for other security threats," the publication says.
At the same time, the Pentagon claims that Ukraine does not need ATACMS that could reach the enemy's rear, particularly in Russia and occupied Crimea.
According to media reports, like the United States, France also previously ruled out the possibility of providing Ukraine with longer-range missiles because of fears that they could be used to defeat targets in Russia, which would lead to an escalation of the conflict.
But yesterday, President Emmanuel Macron announced that Paris would provide the Ukrainian Armed Forces with SCALP missiles.
