Biden begins meeting with congressional leaders

On February 27, U.S. President Joe Biden gathered leaders of both parties of both houses of Congress at the White House to discuss urgent economic and security decisions.

This was reported by Yevropeiska Pravda.

The meeting at the White House is attended by the leader of the Democratic majority of the US Senate, Chuck Schumer, and the Republican minority, Mitch McConnell, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Republican Mike Johnson, and the head of the Democratic minority, Hakeem Jeffries.

Also, according to the video, US Vice President Kamala Harris will speak to the Congressional leaders.

At the beginning of the meeting, Biden said he wanted to discuss the continuation of temporary funding for the federal government to avoid a partial shutdown starting March 1, as well as Ukraine's "urgent need" for American assistance.

"I think the consequences of our inaction on Ukraine every day are dire. I spoke about this with our partners in the Group of Seven. They are very concerned," the US President said.

In addition, the participants are to discuss the approval of military aid to Israel and humanitarian aid to the Palestinians, as well as other threats in the Middle East, particularly from Iran.
