A migration scandal erupted between Germany and Poland. Berlin threatened Warsaw with the resumption of border control.
This was reported by Bloomberg on Saturday, September 23.
German Chancellor Olaf Scholz called on the Polish government to investigate reports of hundreds of thousands of illegally issued work visas. He promised to discuss this issue with the Polish government, warning of the possibility of introducing border controls between the two countries.
German Interior Minister Nancy Feser also said that Germany could resume control of the border with Poland and the Czech Republic.
"Both Scholz and Feser have previously resisted calls for border controls, and the comments show the pressure the government is under to respond to the growing number of undocumented arrivals," the newspaper writes.
According to the German government, more than 12,000 illegal migrants were arrested on the border with Poland in the first half of this year.
The European Union is also considering reports that migrants entered Poland on illegally issued work visas, for which they allegedly received bribes. The Polish government has long criticized Germany's liberal immigration policy and refused to adopt a common European refugee policy.
