Rutte noted that Russia's war against Ukraine has emphasized the need for strong air defense. This remains one of the key priorities of the Alliance.

“That's why today we also talked about how Allies are working together to secure Romania's airspace. Repeated incursions by Russian drones and missiles into NATO airspace are reckless, dangerous and unacceptable,” he stressed.

According to the Secretary General, NATO has already strengthened air defense on its eastern flank. Currently, the allies are adopting hundreds of fifth-generation combat aircraft.

“NATO takes the security of the Black Sea region very seriously. We stand ready to assist, protect and defend every Ally,” Rutte emphasized.
