One of Trump's nominees for Pentagon chief withdraws from the post
Arkansas Senator Tom Cotton did not want to take a position in Donald Trump's administration. According to rumours, he was considered for the post of US Secretary of Defence.
This was reported by RBC-Ukraine with reference to CNN.
The source said that people close to Trump offered Cotton's candidacy for senior positions in the field of intelligence or national security. But he decided to stay in the Senate.
At the same time, several CNN interlocutors confirmed that Cotton was considered for the post of the new head of the Pentagon.
According to a journalist source, Cotton wants to run for Senate Republican leader. He also assured Trump's team that he plans to be the former president's main ‘defender’ while working in Congress.
