German defense concern Rheinmetall is completing its second plant in Ukraine. The first plant was opened only recently.
This was reported by RBC-Ukraine, citing a statement by NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte at a press conference with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz.
Rutte noted that the German defense industry is crucial for the security of Europe and the defense of Ukraine.
In particular, in Bavaria, American and European companies, together with NATO, are producing 1,000 anti-aircraft missiles for the Patriot air defense system at a new plant.
“The German arms company Rheinmetall has just opened its first plant in Ukraine, and the second plant will be built soon. And since 2022, Rheinmetall has significantly increased its ammunition production,” Rutte added.
According to him, NATO countries must increase production rates to ensure security for a billion citizens.
“That's why we are stepping up our support for Ukraine and are already working with the European Union and other like-minded partners around the world,” the Secretary General said.-
